Thanks to you guys, Ive been listening to the Anthony de Mello recording for the last 3 days. Amazing. What a voice of sanity. And funny! Its really too perfect. On the recording you hear a pleasant , energetic Anthony De Mello speaking in front of a large audience. With little fuss, Anthony De Mello cheerfully begins explaining to them through stories, jokes and excercises exactly how phony, mechanical, deluded and completely selfish they are. How meaningless their lives, how false and foolish their ideas about God, love, family and country. The antidote? Awareness, awareness awareness. Wake up! These themes continue on for several hours. Man, this isnt a seminar, its more like a spiritual atom bomb! With a smiley face painted on it! How Anthony De Mello can keep a profoundly illusion-shattering conversation like this warm, light-hearted and funny is beyond me...a testament to his utter sincerity and wisdom. It's really something. The connection speaker-to-audience is palpable, not unlike an Eckhart Tolle recording. But with a bit more attitude, perhaps. Eckhart tolle radiates stillness, Anthony de Mello confronts you If you are on a spiritual path, listen to this lecture, also if you enjoy Eckhart Tolle Power of Now or A New Earth or Stillness Speaks , Byron Katie, Marianne Williamson, Adyashanti, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Tara Brach, Thich Nhat Hanh, Jiddu Krishnamurti, Thomas Merton, Ignacio Larranaga, Henri Nouwen, Pavel Kolmacka , Werner Erhard ,Landmark Forum, Anthony de Mello, Thomas Merton, Rajneesh Osho, Alan Watts, Ramana Maharshi, Wayne Dyer, Mooji, Don Miguel Ruiz, Pema Chodron, Mooji Spirituality means Waking Up. "As you identify less and less with the me, you will be more at ease with everybody and with everything. Do you know why? Because you are no longer afraid of being hurt or not liked. You no longer desire to impress anyone. Can you imagine the relief when you don’t have to impress anybody anymore? Oh, what a relief. Happiness at last!" "Suffering points out that there is falsehood somewhere. Suffering occurs when you clash with reality. When your illusions clash with reality when your falsehoods clash with the truth, then you have suffering. Otherwise there is no suffering." This is an excellent audio book by Anthony De Mello. I found him after Eckhart Tolle recommended his book "Awareness" . I read Anthony De Mello's book "Awareness" and found the audio lectures that made up the text here in YouTube. The full text of his book "Awareness" is in public domain and you can search for it. I have posted about him a few times and won't repeat myself here, other than to say that I find Anthony De Mello's work to be profound and beautiful. Anthony De Mello's spiritual classic remains at the top of the Fount bestsellers more than five years after its original publication. One of the most gifted spiritual guides of the 20th century, de Mello uses humour, compassion and insight to help his readers into a real understanding of the importance of "awareness" in understanding ourselves and the world around us. Awareness is a comprehensive spiritual guide filled with wisdom as it tackles life's big questions--love, anger and fear, change, suffering, happiness and loss. Anthony de Mello's talks/books are very interesting in that he is a Christian but his ideas are very similar to Eckhart Tolle (and I'll venture to say the real spirituality - which is within ourselves).
