I would shiver the whole night through ~ ☆ ~ My girl, my girl, don't lie to me, Tell me where did you sleep last night. In the pines, in the pines, Where the sun don't ever shine. I would shiver the whole night through. My girl, my girl, where will you go? I'm going where the cold wind blows. In the pines, in the pines, Where the sun don't ever shine. I would shiver the whole night through Her husband, was a hard working man, Just about a mile from here. His head was found in a driving wheel, But his body never was found. My girl, my girl, don't lie to me, Tell me where did you sleep last night. In the pines, in the pines, Where the sun don't ever shine. I would shiver the whole night through. My girl, my girl, where will you go? I'm going where the cold wind blows. In the pines, in the pines, Where the sun don't ever shine. I would shiver the whole night through. My girl, my girl, don't lie to me, Tell me where did you sleep last night. In the pines, in the pines, Where the sun don't ever shine. I would shiver the whole night through. My girl, my girl, where will you go? I'm going where the cold wind blows. In the pines, ...the pines, ......... sun, ..........shine. I shiver the whole night through. ~☆ ~ *disclaimer - I do NOT own the music "Where did you sleep last night" is the song by Huddie William Ledbetter who was an American folk and blues musician, and multi-instrumentalist, notable for his strong vocals, his virtuosity on the twelve-string guitar, and the songbook of folk standards he introduced. He is best known as Leadbelly. He chose this pseudonym after suffering a gunshot wound: the bullet was never extracted and therefore the remained of the "lead in the belly." Nirvana realized a cover of the folk song "Black Girl" that Leadbelly recorded in 1944, this cover is titled "Where Did You Sleep Last Night", and was first released as a B-side of the single "Pennyroyal Tea", then included on the posthumous "MTV Unplugged in New York". Nirvana also have also reinterpreted the songs "They Hung Him on a Cross", "Is not It a Shame" and "Grey Goose" ( the latter only in instrumental version), all contained in the box set "With the Lights Out". ~☆ ~ May You Love and Be Loved.
